So I have had two very mediocre races since my last posting. 7th and a 8th place finishes I believe. The only thing I really remember about them is that they hurt. And not in a good way. So KA-BAAM! I’m done. At least done with feeling like I have to race. And only racing if I feel like it fits in nicely with the day. I did go cheer on the guys I typically race with at the MFG series race last weekend. That was just what I needed. Holy crap they where Flying! No wonder it hurts so bad. Watching those guys duke it out was really inspiring. It reminded me why I was ever motivated to race in the first place. But it felt really good to just spectate. That has to be a sign the season is over for me. So I will do the Single speed race next weekend(I think). That gives me a opportunity to ride Bernards awesome single speed bike. It is at woodland park and that place is super fun. I will get my ass handed to me. But that is OK ( I think) Cause I’m kinda done, and cross is awesome.

Cheers, TMT

This was a fairly good race I’d say. I finished 4th. Was at the front of the race a bit fighting with the regular guys. I could never really find that next gear though. I think this photo tells it best:Notice the crossed eyes and dazed look. Notice the slightly distended belly from a weekend in Indianapolis eating at ‘Steak and Shake’ and ‘Waffle House’. Yummm Yummm! It was a great course at a classic Seattle Cyclocross venue. We will be back there in a few weeks time. Maybe with a little better prep and nutrition I can find that next gear. Time will tell. I forgot my Garmin watch so no Strava info. I’ll take my suffer score SMOOTHERED and COVERED!

Another great day of cyclocross. Marymoor is a super place for a cross race. The Seattle cylcocross guys created a good course that was was fast, had lots of turns and offered just about nowhere to rest. I question their decision to put in some super high speed barriers about a 100 yards before the finishing line. It seemed like a unnecessary and potentially dangerous obstacle . Perhaps they were hoping for a Joeys Ok moment of there own. The race it self was some more great head to head racing for most of the hour long 7 lap race. Ian Tubbs and Todd Davis (Audi), Rich McClung (Hagens Berman) and myself were locked together for the first 4 laps. Lap 5 we dropped Todd. Ian dropped Rich and me. Rich dropped me. Lap 6 and 7 rode solo chasing Rich and looking over my shoulder to check my gap to Todd. Finished in 3rd place. A great start to the series. Strava stuff is here SCX #1 Marymoor. September was a good month! Next weekend will be a off weekend. After that little rest it is on to the meat of the season.

Both races were held at Lake Sammamish state park in Issaquah Wa. this year. I missed the old Marymoor Velodrome venue but the promoters did a outstanding job with the Venue they had.

Starcrosssed , My favorite race of the year. The course is pancake flat with a hard beach section and lots of fast wide turns. I had a good start. Fought hard for 6th place with some fella from the Embrocation Cycling journal team. As soon as a gapped him some other guy comes out of no where and pips me for 6th. He actually beat me by 10 seconds so that is not really getting pipped but it’s close. Finished 7th. Pretty happy with that. Strava stuff here Starcrossed Strava. Suffer score 67. Damn you Strava

MFG-Rapha Focus GP, Exactly the same course as Starcrossed. It rained some before the race so it was a little muddy and just a litttle slick in areas. I had a Front row call up . I Got the hole shot into the first corner. I was leading the race! I never lead a race. It’s fun. But I knew it would not last. And it didn’t. But for 3 laps I was hitting it hard riding in 2nd or 3rd position. When things settled down I ended up battling with Sean Kelsey (Pop Cap Cycle-U) Rainer Leuschke (Blue Rooster) Andy Rigel(Mafia) and a Vertical Earth guy who I’m sure has a name. It was the closest, hardest fought race I have ridden in a long time. I wound up finishing in 8th place and was perfectly happy with that. We where fighting for every corner and it never went past the “rubbin is racing” level. Great guys who race like gentlemen. Good times. Next week is the first Seattle cyclocross race. Its at marymoor. YaHoo

Cheers,TMT

The Labor Day Cyclocross Championships took place In Milton, Washington this year. On what I think was the bumpiest course I have ever raced on! And it hurt. 82 degree Temperature. No shade, lots of dust and a twisty twisty course. Did I mention bumps? Not my favorite style of course but good times where had none the less. They started all the master 1/2 racers with the 5 rider strong elite field so about 30 of us took off from the start line together. I had a good start and after the first lap was riding with a group of 4 chasing the 1,2 and 3rd placed riders. My front wheel got stuck in a gigantic hole on the the 2nd lap and sent me over the bars. I never made it back to the group I was riding with. The course really played to my weakness of not finding good lines and keeping off the brakes into tight corners. All the bumps on the course would knock me off line as soon as I touched the brakes. Then more energy is spent getting back to speed. I did this over and over for 50 minutes. I just settled in and tried to stay upright and not lose my position. That position was 3rd 35+ master racer and 8th overall. Not a bad start. My 333 worked great. It was great to see my racing friends and hear some cowbell and encouragement from the folks around the course. My friends Micah and Corrie Middleton worked the pits and handed me water the whole race and are two of the nicest people I know. With out that water I would now be sitting on a bumpy ,dry, nasty, cyclocross course in Milton, Washington crying like a child. Below is the link to my ride on Strava.com. It says my suffer score is 87. I beg to differ Strava. You must take bumps into account.

Cheers, TMT

Lets hear it for fast flowy cross course’s! The first MFG series race of the year was a blast. The weather was still a bit hot for my liking. 85 degrees. Ouch. But Krissey was giving me a water hand off each lap and the racing was great. I had a good start. Rolled around in 3rd place for 3 or 4 laps chasing Rich McClung and Ian Tubbs. Got dropped by those two. Got stung by a bee. Was chased down and dropped by my new Nemesis Rainer Leuschke over the next couple laps. Held on to fourth place after being relentlessly chased by Andy Rigel. I Felt great. I nailed my tire pressure! Success!

This time Strava gives me a suffer score of 108. That’s more like it Strava. If there was the ability to add things like bee stings or sweat in the eye blindness into the equation perhaps it would have been a little higher. People die from bee stings. MFG #1 Kick-Off Cross Strava

Welcome to our new website, we hope you like our new look and take some time and look around a bit. We intend to keep an active presence here and keep things fresh with new builds, shop news, race reports and other such ramblings.

Some recent news includes the SSCXWC race this weekend close to Seattle and our sponsorship of a frame for the men’s winner. We’re pretty excited about that as well as seeing a bunch of crazed fellow single speeders on cross bikes. Hope to see you out there.

I can’t believe that the cross season is at the half way mark. So much has been happening for us in the last few months. We are proud to be the bike sponsor for the Stanley Cycling Team.

Jason Williams is on his Ti SS CX 333fab and has been tearing up the race courses.

We are doubly psyched to have a dream realized. The 333fab factory team has been racing in the NW with Craig Etheridge and Todd Morse Tucker towing the line. Nice job on winning messenger worlds, Craig. These guys are awesome NW racers and we’re proud to have them racing our bikes. Cheer them on at the next CX race !

This is also a good time to thank our Factory Team sponsors. Matt R. at Swrve is one of our first clients and is a great supporter of 333fab. Their products speak for itself. Check em out.

JL Velo is responsible for our teams race clothing and the have been outstanding in their product and service. Thanks Alec. If your team needs kit… JL Velo fo sho !

And we can’t thank Steve Hampsten enough for his support, we wouldn’t be here with out you.

If you like what we do, Shoot us an email. We would love to hear from you,
