Potentially the most exciting ebike on this list is the Ride1Up Turris. This recently released model is rated as an adventure touring-style ebike because of its rugged setup and all-day comfort. It caught my eye when I first saw it, and I think its impressive specs and price tag make it well worth the investment.
The Turris looks like a typical hybrid or recreational ebike, and it shares many of the same specs as models such as the Aventon Pace 500. However, the Turris embraces a more rugged design philosophy, including upgrades such as a powerful 750W rear hub motor, front suspension, and wide 2.4” off-road tires.
Many suspension-equipped ebikes max out at around 60mm or 80mm of travel, but the Turris features a 100mm fork up to mountain bike averages. This way, you can explore off-road paths or cross-country terrain and soak up the bumps along the route. In addition, I’m happy to see the hydraulic disc brakes that offer a much-improved performance over mechanical brakes.

The 12.8Ah battery is similar to other models and achieves a similar range rating of between 25-45 miles on a single charge, depending on various factors. The surprising element of this bike is its affordable price point that’s well below the $1,500 mark! The Turris outperforms many rival ebikes while still coming in below their price, giving riders some wiggle room to splurge on accessories such as racks or mounts for their upcoming expeditions.
I’m also impressed by the cool color options that spice things up from the typically muted frames from other brands— I especially dig the dark green and off-white tones and sidewall tires. For the hardcore commuters or tour-going cyclists, the Ride1Up Turris is a thrilling new ebike that’s just hit the market.

This bike is the only model with a mid-drive motor that delivers a more natural-feeling boost and preserves the bike’s center of balance. The rear rack is also built directly into the frame, so you can reliably weigh it with tons of cargo or daily errand items.
If you’ve got your mind set on a mid-drive system, this bike is probably one of the only ones priced less than $1,500 on the market. REI has stated the model is being discontinued, so you should act fast on the deal before it’s too late. I think Co-op Cycles is coming out with an updated model soon, so they’re getting rid of the remaining inventory with the sale.
The CTY e2.1 is a Class 1 ebike, meaning the pedal assist goes up to 20 mph, and there’s no throttle mode. This could be a deal breaker for the speed demons out there, but the real advantage comes with the ultra-efficient Shimano E5000 250W mid-drive motor. The smooth acceleration and reliable performance are miles ahead of the rear hub motors of the other models on this list, even if the speeds don’t clock in as high.
